Costume day, Monday 7 May

Last week’s costume day was another busy day. There seemed to be even more adults this time who wanted to try things on. We received some really nice comments about our work. Thanks to everyone who helped make it a success, and luckily the rain held off!

Since then we’ve had a (small) pile of repairs and washing to do. The next task will be to continue with the costumes for volunteers, I’ve heard there’s a bit of impatience from among the ranks!

Preparing for Bank Holiday Monday costume day

Progress has perhaps been a bit slower, sewing-wise, this week, although a couple of doublets are coming on a treat and another ruff was finished. Most of the effort this week has been preparing for next Monday, repairing clothes, moving large quantities of clothes from one place to another, and other bits and pieces.

Had a bit of a Blue Peter moment on Wednesday and covered an old ottoman with wood effect sticky-backed plastic to make a mock wooden chest, which sounds rubbish, but actually doesn’t look too bad and should be ok as temporary storage for shirts and smocks on Monday in the Hay Loft.

Looking forward to Monday. Hope the weather won’t be too awful!
